Public golf courses in the West Palm Beach area are not the easiest to find. Florida is one of the most popular golfing states because of the year round sunny weather and warm climate. But, is the public golf any good? Today I am sharing my favorite public courses in Palm Beach County that are actually worth playing and won’t break the bank!
In no particular order, here are my pick for best public golf courses in West Palm Beach! Because this area of South Florida is warm most of the year, you can enjoy golfing at these courses and the palm trees swaying in the breeze.
Oh and not to mention, the Honda Classic in played not too far from West Palm Beach.
If you aren’t lucky enough (yet) to be a member at a private club, these are your next best bet!
#5 – Palm Beach National – Lake Worth, Florida
Not to be confused with PGA National Resort, Palm Beach National is a simple but enjoyable course that is always in good shape. Located in Lake Worth, you’ll be in one of the most sought out golf vacation locations in the country.
If you like listening to music while you tee it up, they will provide you a speaker in the golf shop!
Palm Beach National has a unique driving range. There are a bunch of metal cans and objects for you to aim at and hit. So arrive before your tee time and get some driving range practice drills in before your round.

This is probably one of the most fun public courses to play in Florida. There is a tiki bar setup with island music playing, drinks and snacks are available, and sometimes you even get a complimentary shot (not a golf one, ha) in the pro shop before you head out!
No wonder they have coined themselves the “most fun and friendly golf course”! The course itself is built for players of all skill levels.

# 4 – Park Ridge Golf Course – Lake Worth, Florida
Park Ridge is another county course in the West Palm Beach area. This golf course was built on an old landfill… pretty cool use of space. For that reason, there is a lot of elevation changes.
If you’re not from here, this is very unique for Florida! Most courses are pretty flat with minimal terrain changes.

# 3 – Okeeheelee Golf Course – West Palm Beach, Florida
I discovered Okeeheelee when I took a beginners group class! It’s one of the best county courses in the West Palm Beach area and is a great option for public golf. There are 27 holes (Three nine-hole courses) , well manicured greens, and a lot of different wildlife to see.

# 2 – Ocean Course At The Breakers
With the word Ocean in the name, you know the views must be nice. The Breakers has top quality golf and is one of Florida’s oldest golf courses.
The avid golfer will appreciate the 56 sand bunkers, options of tee boxes, and the different little twists on each hole.

# 1 – Palm Beach Par 3 – Palm Beach, Florida
The views at the Palm Beach Par 3 are unbeatable. The first nine is lined across the intracoastal waterway and the back nine is on the Atlantic Ocean side.
This beautiful property is not your typical 18-hole course as every hole is a par 3. Everyone playing here will hope that their second shot in a putt!

COMING SOON – West Palm Golf Park
West Palm Beach used to have a public course but it shut down in 2018. It has been sitting vacant for years and the land finally just got picked up by a developer! I have been following the progress through news articles since the plans got announced.
Although it is not open yet, I really think that this will be the prime public course facility in the county and maybe even the entire state of Florida. Design by Gil Hanse, the course will have 18 holes, a huge practice facility, short game area, and public bar and grill.
The vision for West Palm Golf Park looks amazing and I can’t wait to play it once it opens (hopefully at the end of 2022!)

Don’t Forget To Practice!
Whether you’re in West Palm Beach for vacation or a full time resident, you’ll want a nice place to practice your golf swing. John Price Golf Learning Center is one of the best driving ranges in the area. It’s not attached for a full golf course but does have 3 holes you can play before or after a practice session at the driving range.
